Amazing Web Traffic Monitoring Tools - Built in Niagara
As a software company, I am proud to be located in Niagara. When you think of technology
you think of large cites, maybe in the USA, or better yet, Silicon Valley. But Niagara
has a lot of talent and skill, and we should be proud of what we build.
My staff has built tools to monitor the web traffic on our own website. I have amazing
insight into what visitors are doing on our website.
I know who is looking at what page. I know what videos they watched, and which ones
they didn’t. I know every time they came to the website. By knowing what they are
not viewing, I can make changes and see if I can attract more visitors to view what
is of interest to them.
I can monitor web traffic visiting the website and not signing up for our free report.
I can then change the title or content on the page and watch to see if it makes
a difference to the number of visitors who sign up for the free report.
For the web visitors who do sign up for the resources, I can send out emails inviting
them to watch a video on a business topic. I can then monitor the website to see
who in the email list actually went to the website and watched the video. Again,
because I can measure performance, I can tweak the email message or the website
content to see if the next time I send an email requesting them to watch something;
I can improve the results.
It use to be that you would place an ad, and you would have no idea who saw it;
what they found interesting; and what changes may improve results without significant
investment in time and resources to figure that out. Now, with the right tools and
the web, it is a whole new game.
The next phase of the project will be to customize the web content based on the
web users past visits to the website and what they found interesting. You may have
been to websites that you can customize the content to the way you want it, but
what if the website knew your past visits and could customize the content for you?
If you sell automobiles, and I have been looking at trucks on your website, wouldn’t
it be nice if the next time I came to your website, the website displayed interesting
content on trucks. Not only would this be helpful to the web visitor, but because
of the good user experience on your website, coupled with important facts on trucks,
the web user will buy from your company as you are seen as the experts in trucks.
We might be good old Niagara, but there is a lot of great work being done in our
region and we should be proud of made in Niagara.
